A sense of belonging for vulnerable children
This full day of training will look at ‘belonging’ as a basic need and human right and will focus on how children and young people who have lived through adversity and trauma, might be affected by this. We will explore how those with trauma have differing working models to those without, and how this can negatively impact their ability to feel that they belong. We will also look at work that can be done within individuals and whole communities to ensure that all individuals feel this. The training will explain how, through creating environments that ensure a sense of belonging for all, there are significant gains which include increased engagement, attendance, and retention and that all who are within that community have a better chance of reaching their full potential; academically, socially and emotionally.
